Inspiring Your Prospects to Lead by Example 

Leadership ability is a quality that you can fully develop before as you begin sponsoring others in your MLM opportunity. Instead of telling them all about volume incentives and compensation plans and websites and heavy hitters, take a minute to listen to their story…Carefully assess their skills and interests first – help them get what they want. When you know what they want, help them follow your system step-by-step, so they can do the same when they meet people who want support.

From the moment you meet and decide upon a prospect, begin providing them with lessons in leadership. You will need to let them know that they, too, will be doing exactly what you are doing. Through an ability to lead, you will teach them with confidence what to do and what not to do. Provide an easy-to-follow checklist that they can use toward their own down line. Your system should have this checklist, so it will be easy for your prospects to use it.

The question on everyone’s mind always appears to be this: "Can I do this?" So, you will help them past the doubt. You will go over with your prospects, step-by-step, the process of finding prospects. Teach them about your tested, proven lead generation system. For new prospects, it's important that you keep the workload light, yet focused. Start them off with only those tasks that you know for certain they can complete such as:

1. Listening to an online training audio.
2. Watching an internet product presentation video.
3. Listening in on your 8:pm up-line productivity conference call.

and so forth…..

Give each of them a single assignment and confirm the dates by which it will be completed. Ask, specifically, when they plan to listen to the 1-hour audio and then confirm and reaffirm training assignments. Then, make an appointment time for the following day to answer questions and discuss the next step. Be sure that all are in agreement. Make it doable and easy for them.

Watching how a prospect completes 2 or 3 short, easy tasks will give you a good indication of how this person will then perform the larger assignments. It will be up to you, as an MLM leader, to offer an early evaluation of the ability and commitment of your prospects or new associate and how you believe they will succeed according to the MLM income opportunity you are offering.

Remember, that if you have a burning desire to do this business, you CAN do it. And so can your prospects. Skills, a mentor, and a system will puts all of us on the right track.

Network Marketing is a Relationship Business More Than a Sales Business

Nobody likes a pushy, aggressive salesperson. Nobody. People want to make their own decisions and take as much time as they need to make up their mind. It’s like walking into a store at the mall and having a salesclerk follow you incessantly from aisle to aisle reminding you that he or she is there to help you over and over again.

What these hard-sell marketers don’t get is that 92% of the world’s population is sales resistant. 92%. While “forcing” people into certain situations or to buy certain things or to sign up for this or that may work for the short-term, it certainly never lasts and could ultimately result in failed relationships – whether it be in business or of a personal nature. 

Good News Number One: You Don’t Need to Change Who You Are to do This Busines


Many of the network marketing gurus you will come across will tell you that you need to change in order to be a successful network marketer. This simply isn’t true. You don’t have to change at all. In fact, you’ve been networking your whole life, so don’t change! Keep recommending your favorite things like you always have: books, restaurants, movies, etc. You are perfect just as you are to do this business.

Good News Number Two: What You Need is a Proven System that Brings People Who WANT to Talk with You


One thing that will help you in the MLM business – or in any type of business, for that matter – is to implement a tested, proven system that brings in a steady stream of interested prospects that want to talk to you. They want to do network marketing and have found you. They are already interested. Those are the people you want to talk with. And, in MLM, you will want to pass this tested, proven system along to those that you sponsor because we all want the advantage of sharing our network marketing business or products to only those that want what we have to offer.

Finding the Right Prospects for Your Business

With so many network marketing businesses out there, it's almost impossible to "just" sell your opportunity and have people you talk to join on-the-spot. Even if you're the top sales person of the year! Why? Because 92% of us don't like to be sold. Most of us run the other way. Even if people do join you today, they will disappear if they joined through a pure emotional high or if they felt obligated.
