Lead Generation Systems for Networks - Part 1
Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 07:46PM As a Network Marketer, the most pressing question you may have right now is this: Who am I going to share my business opportunity with next?
The key skill for success in Network Marketing is the ability to be able to build and maintain a solid pipeline of interested prospects.
This is more important today than at any time in the history of Network Marketing. It used to be that you could simply make a list of your warm market, invite them to a meeting and many of them would join. This rarely works today.
So how do you become successful today?
Success in Network Marketing today is all about who can build the most successful lead generation system. It is about your ability to have a constant flow of leads who are looking at your opportunity.
One of the realities today in Network Marketing is that you need to go through higher numbers of prospects looking at your opportunity to sponsor someone. The reason is simple - there is such an abundance of good opportunities out there today that it is harder than ever to get the attention of your prospects.
In this series of three articles I will explain to you what a lead generation system is, how to set one up, and how to make it work for you by generating an unlimited supply of leads.
First though, let us consider what a lead generation system is, and then we will discuss a couple of vitally important (and rarely understood) concepts to make a lead generation system work.
What is a lead generation system?
A lead generation system is a fully automated system that utilizes the Internet to identify and find interested prospects who are open to looking at information about your business opportunity.
Today, more savvy opportunity seekers are making decisions about which company to join based not so much on the products, or the compensation plan, but on who has the best systems in place.
This is a critical concept then - we want to position our lead generation system in such a way that the system itself is something that will appeal to quality prospects.
To make a lead generation system work you need to consider a couple of key concepts. These are:
Concept 1 - The Drill Bit
Last year there were 287,000 1/4 inch drill bits sold. The fascinating thing is that not one of those 287,000 people wanted a 1/4 inch drill bit. So what did they want?
They all wanted a 1/4 inch hole, right?
They didn't even really want the hole . . . what they really wanted was what the hole could do for them. Maybe they wanted to hang a picture on the wall, or build a tree house for their kids.
So how does this apply to lead generation systems?
Too many people in Network Marketing spend way too much time talking about themselves, their company, their products, the science behind their products, their compensation plan and on and on and on.
Problem is . . . this is just like the drill bit. It is not tapping into what people really want - which is what will motivate them to join you in the first place.
So you want to set up your lead generation system to focus on what the end benefit will be for your prospect.
Concept 2 - Pull Them, Don’t Push Them
If you are trying to push your opportunity onto people, then chances are good to excellent that you will push them away.
For this reason your lead generation system must not focus on your opportunity up front.
Instead you want to structure your lead generation system around the idea of ATTRACTING prospects to you. By doing so, you can literally pull them to you; you can pull them into your world where they can make a positive decision to join you.
How do you do this?
You must make your lead generation system attractive to them. This is easier to do than you may realize right now. It is as simple as helping people to find solutions to their problems.
So your lead generation system needs to attract leads by providing some solutions to their problems.
The simple way to do this is to give away valuable information that will be attractive to a large number of people.
For example, you might write a special report on how you can escape the rat race and then use this report as a giveaway to pull people into your lead generation system.
Always be asking yourself the question: How can I help others get what they want?
In our second article in this series I will explain some of the technical aspects for setting up your lead generation system.
For now though you may want to take a look at the Mentoring for Free duplicatable training system. It will help you learn how to attract people who want what what you have.
