Achieve MLM Success through Action, NOT Perfection
Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 09:20AM What would be the first word that comes to your mind if you were asked to give the opposite of achievement? If you’re like most, the word “failure” would be first and foremost. However, I would have to disagree and here’s why:
While some may say that failure is definitely the opposite of achievement, I might have to add this for thought: “The opposite of achievement is perfectionism." Think about this for a minute. The more you insist on perfection, the less you will get done. See, the problem with perfection is that it takes forever to achieve the level at which you would be satisfied according to your own expectations. There is always just one more thing you could be doing or could have done to get closer to perfect. Am I right?
So, what do we do about all those hundreds, if not thousands, of MLMers out there who are still searching for that elusive "one more thing?"
How long do you think you have to reach your goals? Forever? Less?
Well, I'm a firm believer in the 80/20 Rule. Have you heard of it?
The 80/20 Rule Says That “80% of the Result Comes From 20% of the Effort."
Relevant to network marketing - or anything else, for that matter - you are much better off if you act right now and get 80% of the result than if you wait a day, week, month, or however long until everything is “perfect."
If you wait for that “one more thing” to happen, bent on achieving your “perfection," somebody else will have blown right by you, completing 50 or 300 or 1000 actions - and you’ll be left eating their dust!
I don’t disagree that “perfection” – for whatever it means - would most likely be great. The price that you pay for hanging on to it and waiting for something better to transpire is that nothing ever gets done, completed, finished. The road to success is paved with a whole slew of completed “right” actions. Maybe they weren’t finished perfectly, but I’m sure they were finished sufficiently.
The more you act on your logical plan, the more achievement you will have.
Perfectionism Truly is the Opposite of Achievement
Recognize this irony in all aspects of your life and you will move closer to reaching your goals faster than you ever thought possible.
