Think and Grow Rich Chapter Five Specialized Knowledge... My Thoughts
Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 07:24PM My favorite sentence in this chapter is "An educated man is one who has so developed the faculties of his mind that he may acquire anything he wants, or its equivelent, without violating the rights of others." This hit me hard. Why? Because there it is again: It's all in our thinking and doing and organizing and attitude and habits.
Speaking of attitudes. The problem with attitudes is that once we have a negative attitude, we can get used to being in that attitude. Or once we have an unworthy outlook of ourself, we're in the habit of seeing ourself that way most of the time. Or if we feel like we're not smart enough because of something someone may have said to us or because we felt like a failure for "something" a long time ago, we can go through our whole life believing that we're not smart enough. And so on ...
Thank goodness for Hill's book, for Michael and Linda's mental cleanse group and Mentoring-for-Free. Thank goodness that we know we can change these attitudes and beliefs by learning specialized knowledge.
We all know how good it feels to feel good about ourselves, to believe in ourselves, and to be happy with ourselves. That's when we get out there and help others. That's when we do our job and don't worry about "them." That's when we don't let circumstances or negativity get to us. When we follow the recipes, the steps, and learn the skills, away we fly.
I have a specialized knowledge with the teaching lesson cycle:
1) Do Now - review a skill from previous lesson with students. Engage every student.
2) I Do - Instruction, Modeling, Explaining the process/lesson
3) We Do - Guided Practice of the new skill or lesson. We do together.
4) You Do - Students independently perform the new skill/learning
5) Closure/Exit Pass
Every day. Every lesson.
Mentoring for Free has a similar recipe:
1) Read the ebook
2) Listen to the recorded calls
3) Set up a coaching call ...
And along the way we write our Why, we make our Self-Talk which we say 100 times a day. We revise them when needed. We get on the Skills Calls, the Training Calls, the Mental Cleanse Calls. This is how we learn Specialized Knowledge. When we know this inside out, we have more confidence, we know what we're doing, and we have trained our minds to believe in ourselves more and to let go of any sense of lack or unworthiness that may have been there. We soar.
Learning the skills is our specialized knowleged and with this we can only go Onward and Upward.
Yes!
