Twitter Review
Sunday, August 17, 2008 at 07:10PM I know that social networking sites can threaten to eat up all the time you devote to your network marketing strategy. But, I just wanted to talk about one of them today, and let you know that it might just revolutionize the way you approach network marketing.
It’s called Twitter - and I’m sure you’ve heard of it. Like me, you might have even signed up for it, and then forgotten about it. But I’ve been hearing so much buzz about it recently, I thought I’d give it another shot - and I’m really glad I did.
When you update your Twitter page, you simply type in anything you want up to 140 characters. You can write about what you’re doing, post a link, let people know you’ve updated your blog, ask a question, or even reply to a Tweet from someone you’re following. It all shows up on a constantly updated list on your home page. (If a link you want to use is way long, just pop over to TinyURL.com and shorten it!)
While this might seem like yet one more thing to add to your list of Internet to-do’s, take heart - this was the thought of many other computer savvy people, too. That’s why there are about a million things to help you seamlessly include Twitter in your day without letting all your other work go to the wayside.
You can add twitter bars to your Internet browser, which allow you to keep track of your Tweets without having an extra window open on your desktop - and you can update from there, too. You can set up Twitter feeds that automatically update your Twitter with links to any updates you make on any of your RSS-fed blogs.
OK, it’s easy, I can hear you saying. But how does all this relate to my network marketing strategy?
Well, how about this - by typing “network marketing” into Twitter’s search bar, I’ve found over 500 other Twitter members who have used this phrase in their bio or user name. “MLM”? 132 members. “Home business”? 371. “Downline”? Nine. Build your own network marketing brain without lifting a finger!
And it works for lead generation, too. Find people who are into not only whatever it is you’re selling, but who also share your passions and hobbies not related to your network marketing business at all! There are almost 100 Twitter members who put “elementary teacher” in their short bio - that’s 100 possible leads for me, from people who have a similar interest that has nothing to do with network marketing.
So, be creative with your Twitter - find the right combination of people, and tweet about whatever it is that strikes your fancy - from links to recipes or insights about network marketing or questions to the community at large. You’ll soon find that you have an instantly accessible group of people who are following your every word!
As they say in Twitterville, “Tweet you later!”
